BrewersNews.com - Milwaukee Brewers Blog Fan Site http://www.brewersnews.com/blog Just another WordPress weblog Wed, 07 May 2008 03:49:03 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.0.5 en And people thought the vegan diet would hurt Prince… http://www.brewersnews.com/blog/Milwaukee-Brewers/and-people-thought-the-vegan-diet-would-hurt-prince/ http://www.brewersnews.com/blog/Milwaukee-Brewers/and-people-thought-the-vegan-diet-would-hurt-prince/#comments Wed, 07 May 2008 03:49:03 +0000 JJL Uncategorized http://www.brewersnews.com/blog/Milwaukee-Brewers/and-people-thought-the-vegan-diet-would-hurt-prince/ Please.  He could fast for a year and still crank 40-50 home runs in a year.  This kid is a monster and has turned it on big time after that horrid start.  He only has 4 home runs right now, but you know he’s about ready to go on a huge tear.  His .257 average isn’t great, but he’s still getting on base a lot (.369 OBP and 19 walks).  He’s doing everything asked of him right now, including being a great clutch hitter.  He’s helped the team to a decent start (16-16, 5 games back) as well.  I just don’t get the argument that this new diet is going to hurt him.  Do people honestly think that eating meat is the source of all strength?  Come on now.  That’s such a terrible (and stupid) misconception, and I’d love to meet the person that started it.  Lets get real people, a vegan diet along with a rigorous workout regimen that I’m sure Prince has doesn’t get rid of your strength and/or home run power.  If anything, he’ll get in better shape so his career will last longer, because 275 pounds is a lot to be carrying around on a 5′11″ frame.

Diet or no diet, Prince is one of the premier sluggers that the game has right now, and he’ll continue to be just that for many years, and even though his start left more to be desired, he’ll end up with at least a .275 average with 35 HR and 100 driven in.  There’s no way a guy with his talent doesn’t get those numbers when healthy.

As for the team as a whole, the pitching staff leaves me iffy about them.  I honestly don’t think they’re getting anywhere with Gagne as closer, which shocks me to say.  Ever since he left Texas, he’s been absolute crap…I have no idea what happened.
